Christelle de Castro Bio

Christelle de Castro is a commercial director, photographer & fine artist based in New York City. She is known for her iconic images of musicians, artists, and muses. Her love of portraiture and devotion to social justice sew a common thread in her personal & commercial work. Her photographs are uniquely intimate while her films lean toward themes of empowerment & community.

In 2012, Christelle founded Stoneman, an idea house providing creative direction and production for fashion & music labels. Today Stoneman has grown into a post production house, offering 360 services from edit, animation, grpahic design, sound design & color grade. In 2020, Christelle co-founded film production company, Ground Work, with offices in London, Bristol & New York. She heads up the NYC headquarters located in Bed Stuy.

Christelle's work has been exhibited at the Showroom NYC, Company Gallery (formerly Capricious), the Museum of Art & Design, and MILK Gallery, to name a few. Her portraits of musicians traveled the world in the group show, Beyond The Noise, which first exhibited in Vienna in 2015 and closed in Dubai in 2017. Her most recent solo exhibition, Citizens of the Bowery, was displayed as a 22-story public art installation on Bowery & Delancey. Commissioned by the new citizenM Hotel, de Castro's portraits of Bowery District locals were displayed across 182 windows, turning each room of the new downtown hotel into it's very own light box.
